US President Donald Trump, First Lady Melania Test Positive for Coronavirus

Washington DC: Reports close to the office of the US president indicated that the president and his wife the first lady Melania Trump have contacted the novel coronavirus.

Trump and the first lady have been in isolation for the past one week after one of the president’s closest aides tested positive for COVID-19. The aide, Hicks, is a 31-year old woman and the closest advisor to the president.

She is also the closest person to the president among government officials who have contacted the virus so far.

President Donald Trump confirmed the bad news today October 2, 2020, through his tweeter handle.

“Tonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!,” he tweeted some minutes past midnight today.

Trump also disclosed that he and the first lady have been waiting for the test results following the infection of Hope Hicks. His advisor Hicks had traveled with the president in Air Force to attend a TV debate in Ohio on Monday.

 The United States Center for Diseases Control and Prevention (CDC) had recommended a 14-day quarantine plan for any individual who comes into contact with an infected person. The two-week quarantine period is strategic because the virus takes at least 14 days to incubate entirely.

The administration of President Trump has been continuously disregarding the best public practices blatantly during this period of the COVID-19 pandemic. Hence, the infection news in the White House serves as a twist because the West Wing staff and the president have been violating COVID-19 recommendations issued by the national coronavirus task force.

 President Trump and his staff have also been accused of putting little effort to adopt the virus containment guidelines. However, the president had hinted that his aide Hicks might have contacted the virus from a supporter while in Ohio.
