Raila Odinga, Azimio La Umoja’s presidential candidate, congratulated Fernandes Barasa and Abdulswamad Nassir on their election victories in Kakamega and Mombasa, respectively.
Raila said on Twitter on Tuesday that the ODM’s victory in the two elections proved that the entire country is Azimio.
“Kakamega na Mombasa mumedhihirisha kwamba Kenya nzima ni Azimio. Hongera BarasaFernandes na Abdulswamad Nassir,” Raila Tweeted.
He also thanked his supporters for backing his two allies in the just concluded mini polls.
“To our loyal supporters who came out to vote for them and Azimio as a whole on the 9th of August, I Thank You!” he added.
In Mombasa, Abdulswamad defeated former senator Hassan Omar, who was running under the UDA banner, while Barasa defeated rival and former Kakamega Senator Cleopas Malala.
Governorship elections in Mombasa and Kakamega counties were among the eight elections postponed by IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati.
The other six were elections for Members of the National Assembly in Kitui Rural Constituency (Kitui County), Kacheliba Constituency (West Pokot County), Pokot South Constituency (West Pokot County), and Rongai Constituency (Kitui County) (Nakuru County).
