A dormitory is Nyamira Sub-County has been burnt down by a raging fire. The Tonga Omonuri Adventist Primary School dormitory fire left several items of the students in ashes as cases of burnt dormitories continue to pile up.

According to reports, the fire broke out at 8pm and afterwards spread out vastly leaving the students items burnt beyond recognition. However, none of the students was hurt as the fire began when they were in class for their night prep studies.
Consequently, the parents stormed to the school to find out whether any of their children or the students was hurt. But education officials rejected their request to return home with their children following the fire incident.

As the fire continued to spread, residents nearby came out to help in putting the fire out as they waited for the fire brigade. The fire brigade came to rescue two hours later when most of the property was burnt down.
Police officers together with the Criminal Investigations Department for Nyamira Sub-County are currently investigating the cause of the fire as they could not tell what caused the fire at the time.
Similarly, there have been many incidences of dormitories being burnt since the reopening of schools in January 2021 and cases of burnt churches in Kisii County in the past week.
