Six people suspected of robbery have been shot along the Nyahururu-Nairobi highway.

Police fatally shoot six robbers

The Special Service Unit (SSU) received a tip that there were armed robbers who were planning to commit robbery within Nakuru town. They were additionally told that the robbers were in a Toyota Probox with registration number KCE 475X.

The detectives of the SSU gunned down the six people who are suspected to have planned to mug within Nakuru town.

As the officers attempted to stop the muggers, the six opened fire thus leading the detectives to shoot back at them. According to the report made by police states those six out of eight robbers were shot. However, two of the muggers escaped without injuries.

Three out of six pistols recovered by the detectives were homemade. They also recovered a pair of handcuffs from the suspects.

Furthermore, the police vehicle that the officers came with was damaged on the left front door and the left side mirror. But no police had any injury during the shootout.

The police have launched a hunt for the two suspects who were able to escape while the bodies of the deceased from the shooting have been taken to the mortuary for identification.
