Alfred Mutua, Machakos Governor, has suspended his countrywide campaign due to the recent rise in the Covid-19 cases. The Governor also added that he is concerned with how the Covid-19 cases have been on a higher side on a daily basis.

Mutua has shown interest in the 2022 presidency seat and has been rallying in counties like Mombasa, Kwale and Kilifi to increase his supporters.
During his campaign in the Coastal region, Mutua suggested to other political leaders to put a halt to the campaigns. He added that by putting the campaigns to a halt would help in reducing the spread of the virus.
“Times are hard and we cannot go ahead and risk the lives of Kenyans through campaigns. It has become difficult for Kenyans to observe health guidelines at political rallies,” Mutua said.
During one of his campaigns, he addressed the people saying that the politicians cannot go on being greedy holding the 2022 campaigns while the lives of millions of Kenyans are being put at risk through the social gatherings. He went ahead to urge politicians to address the nation in observing the health guidelines on matters Covid-19 that have been put forward by the Ministry of Health and World Health Organization.
The President had addressed the church members at All Saints Cathedral on Sunday saying he is as well concerned over the spike in the Covid-19 cases. He had said he is torn between putting the Nation on a second strict lockdown.
