A woman is arrested in Mukurweini, Nyeri County on suspicion of killing her two children. The 28-year-old is currently in police custody as investigations continue.

Woman in Nyeri County is suspected of killing her children

Teresa Nyambura was put behind bars following the death of her two children. According to police, the two children appear to be strangled to death. Her children Abigael Njoki and Joseph Kariuki are of ages 10 and seven respectively.

Residents of the area had recovered the bodies of the two children from the farm of the family. Their farm is located approximately 300 meters from their home.

In addition, the Mukurweini Sub-County commander, Jesse Mwakiria, says after close examination of the two children, the children had strangulation signs. However, where the seven-year-old boy was lying had some vomit.

Similarly, detectives who are looking in to the matter arrested Nyambura for failing to account for the last moments she had with her children.

However, the father of Nyambura says that she had been stressed following the loss of her means of income due to the pandemic. He also says that she found it difficult raising school fees for her children.

Currently, police officers have placed Nyambura in jail for a period of 21 days as they continue investigating the matter.
