A man has been arrested in Migori County with elephant tusks worth Ksh1.1 million.

According to police report, the two tusks weighed 11 kilograms. The suspect, Alex Wambura, was arrested by Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) officers on the Kehancha-Ntimaru road.
During the arrest, the two tusks were wrapped in sisal reeds and he was using a motorcycle to commute.
The 41-year-old man had an accomplice but the accomplice managed to escape on foot as the officers attempted to arrest them both.
The case will be heard in court on Friday.
Similarly, a 40-year-old suspect was arrested in Migori County with elephant tusks worth Ksh5.4 million. The tusks weighed 54 kilograms.
