Ledama Olekina, the Senator of Narok County, took to twitter to make his complaint over speaker Mutura’s signing Sh37.5 billion. According to Olekina, the acting Nairobi Governor violated a court order.

Speaker Benson Mutura was sworn in on Monday 21, 2020 as the acting Nairobi Governor. The former Governor, Mike Sonko, was impeached following a number of accusations. Sonko was accused of gross misconduct and abuse of office among others.
In addition, Mike Sonko took to Court his petition on the manner in which he was impeached by the Senate.
However, hours after Mutura was sworn in, he signed a budget of Sh37.5 billion to be released. In accordance to reports, the money was in hold since October 2020.
But Senator Ledama Olekina says this was a violation of court orders and that Benson Mutura should be jailed for six months. He says that the acting Governor should learn his lesson behind bars.
The money signed to be released is meant for the Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) and it was the cause for the rift between Mike Sonko and the NMS boss Badi. The NMS projects had been put on hold after Sonko had refused to sign for the release of the funds.
Additionally, the High Court ordered the National Treasury to withhold the funds since the manner in which was not constitutional.
Justice Anthony Mrima stopped the National Treasury from transferring the huge amount of cash to NMS.
