Kiambu murder suspect Lawrence Warunge declared unfit, girlfriend freed

Kiambu murder suspect Lawrence Warunge was declared unfit to stand trial whereas his girlfriend Sarah Muthoni was freed from police custody.

Warunge was the prime suspect in the killing of his father, mother, brother, nephew, and a worker in the same night. However, his girlfriend, Muthoni, was also placed in police custody as a suspect.

He had detailed the whole incident from slicing the throat of the construction worker to stabbing his father several times. All the evidence against him was recovered by detectives as the investigations were continuing.

The Kiambu murder suspect Lawrence Warunge was taken to police custody for a period of 14 days during which a mental assessment was done on him.

Both Warunge and Muthoni were put behind bars in police stations in Gigiri and Muthaiga respectively.

Following the mental assessment, the judge ruled Warunge unfit to stand trial in court. However, he did not attend the court hearing on Monday as expected by the judge. But both Warunge and Muthoni were in Court for trial after the 14-day period ended.

Sarah Muthoni was put before Kiambu Chief Magistrate, Patricia Gichuhi, for a ruling.
