Form Two student commits suicide in Embu County

Form Two student has committed suicide in Embu County right before she reported back to school. Faith Wambui, 16, was supposed to report at St Annes Kiriari Secondary School.

Form Two student commits suicide right before reporting to school

Wambui is reported to have committed suicide in the bathroom of her family’s home. The incident occurred in Kiang’ondu village, Embu East Sub-county.

According to the area chief, Chief Kivaru Kaumbuthu, says the matter was reported in the morning hours by the family. Kaumbuthu also says she was to report to school on the same day she committed suicide.

In addition, the chief says the form two student was in good terms with her mother. However investigations are underway on determining the motive of her death.

An aunt to Wambui told the police that Wambui’s fee, which was an estimate of Ksh16, 000 was already paid. The mother says she had also done a shopping worth Ksh2, 600 and was to leave at 9am for school.

One of the neighbors to Wambui’s mother urges all students to share their stressful situation with their parents and guardians.

The County Commissioner furthermore advices all religious leaders and village elders to ensure there is social order in the society.
