According to the DCI, many Kenyans have been victims to these online scams as sellers pose as genuine people selling certain goods.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations advises online shoppers to take precaution as they engage in online buying. They are additionally advising Kenyans to be aware of scammers and fraudsters.

Furthermore, online shoppers are advised to deal with trusted online shopping sites as they have verified sellers.

Online shoppers are advised against getting doorstep deliveries as those who will pose to deliver the items might be criminals.

The directorate says any reports of criminal offences can be made through their toll free line 0800 722 203 to get assistance.
