A court hearing in Eldoret was surprised when a 47-year-old man admitted openly to consuming marijuana.
The defendant, Mr. Boniface Mutua, stated he takes marijuana as an energizer and to support his favorite presidential contender, Prof. George Wajackoyah, during his appearance before Senior Resident Magistrate Christine Menya.
Mutua, who entered a guilty plea to the charges against him, claimed that marijuana gives him the strength and courage he needs to support Wajackoyah.
Mutua, who openly declared his support for Prof. Wajackoyah’s plan to legalize bhang, said, “I might be among the first farmers to grow bhang if my president legalizes it.
The court was informed that Mutua was detained after being discovered in possession of three rolls of bhang, each worth Ksh90, in Bahati estate in Ainabkoi, Uasin Gishu county.
The magistrate took the time to explain to the suspect that smoking or having possession of marijuana is currently forbidden in Kenya.
Bhang is currently prohibited, so you are being punished for the offense, Menya said Mutua.
It will be brought up on July 27, 2022.
